Pejeperro and Pejeperrito Lagoons are one of the unique saltwater lagoons in the southern area of the Osa Peninsula. These lagoons are an important part of the ecosystem. During the dry season they separate completely from the sea to become a fresh water lagoon. During the rainy season, it extends to the sea, becoming a saltwater lagoon. These lagoons are home and a meeting point for a diverse selection of water birds and reptiles.
